Sleep & Dream Series of Paintings

My new paintings on the theme, "Sleep & Dream," are primarily on small wooden blocks of recycled lumber. My paintings explore the emotions of sleep and dream states, as well as the positive and negative shapes of bodies and faces as they intersect during the intimacy of sleeping together.

Clay Skirt Dolls

Last summer I made a series of clay "skirt dolls." The tradition of healing dolls comes from primitive times and people. My vision was to explore my identity as a woman healer through intention, energy work and symbolism. The clay doll was my "container" for my prayers, intentions and my practice of using energy in healing. This doll sat in my herb garden for some time.

I had fun these past few weeks painting. This is unusual for me and the photos are not the best. I took them myself on the fence out back. But, I am curious to see what response I get, if any! They are all acrylic on clay board and this one is 24 inches by 24 inches.

Urban Warrior

Living in the city reminds me that nature is often a commodity--like the shell in the box--just out of reach. It takes extra money and time to get out to the wilderness and I spend time walking and collecting stones and feathers and shells from city parks to bring home. This piece is made from handmade clay parts, canvas, paint, wool, an office drawer, glass, wood and a shell.
